A most enjoyable day with some lovely Smooths to go over. I last judged this variety in 2011 and was just as thrilled with my winners today as I was then. You really have some good quality Smooths. Size is so uniform throughout and your girls are so feminine. Looking back through my past judging records of this variety I see that Lauralee, Hampdach and Phealand breeding have previously done well under me on several occassions and Im not surprised but thrilled that once again this breeding figured in my main winners today. Certainly a credit to their dedicated breeders and lucky owners. Some rather plain heads have creeped in with some lacking in underjaw and being rather broad over the skull. Some wrinkle was evident on some but not in abundance. No incorrect bites and no kinky tails though a few where highly set. My BOB is a real Stallion Hound in fit hard condition and my BOS was a real find that impressed me so much, both complementing each other so well. Thank you to the committee for their hospitality and to my steward Billy Rowell all helping to make my day so enjoyable. I appreciated my entry especially with The National being held the following day where both my CC winners repeated their wins and the bitch gaining her much deserved crown! V (3). 1, Norton's Ch Matzell Mildred, beautifully maid throughout, lovely size and so feminine, super head and expression, dark almond shaped eye, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, lovely body shape and proportions, neat and correct throughout, well made quarters with firm parallel hocks. Ultra sound coming and going, really projects herself so well in profile giving a picture of elegance. A beautiful bitch than can still hold her own in top competition and one that challenged hard for the final awards. 2 Turner's Marictur Moulin Rouge, another beautifully made feminine red, lovely size and proportions, Very good head and expression, correct shoulders and front construction, plenty of forechest that fits neatly and correct, good body shape with correct top and underlines, well made behind with well muscled quarters, sound coming and going looking good in profile with lovely reach and follow through. Another which really appealed. 3 Armstrong's Ch Lauralee Peeping Fawn MPD (3) 1 and BP, Kerry's Kireton Beau Diddley, 8 month B/T full of quality and breed type, lovely head and eye, well arched neck which he already uses to project himself on the move, good shoulders and tight elbows, good legs and stunning feet, good ribbing with correct top and underlines, short loins lead into thick well made hammy quarters, firm parallel hocks, tail well set and carried. Sound enough for one so young and moves out so well in profile. Full of promise and a delightful character, good luck with him. 2 Williams and Moes' Cwmdarhian San Andreas, 6 month red, real baby full of quality, certainly not as forward as 1 which showed in his performance that was perfectly acceptable for a MP. Stunning head and expression, long well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, good body and proportions, well made behind, everything fits and flows. Has that puppy sloppiness about him and so he should, still sound enough coming and going and has the shape in profile that confirms he will make a good one. 3 Clark's Sirius Rising. PD (1), 1, Clark's Sirius Rising, third in the previous class behind two quality babies, 8 month B/T with a stunning head and expression, correct length from muzzle to skull, good strong jaws, long elegant neck, his front needs more time to develop and fit together, long body but in proportion, well made quarters, firm and parallel, a shade untidy in front action but really sound moving away, goes well in profile in beautiful condition. Time will tell. JD (1) 1, McNaughton's Carper Ag Von Nordor, 15 month real deep dark mahogany red, neat, compact and lovely in size. His muscular condition is outstanding, beautiful head and dark eye, well muscled neck leading into copy book shoulders, fantastic bone and feet, good body and proportions with correct top and underlines. Short loins leading into well made quarters. Ultra sound coming and going and gives a pleasing picture in profile. Full of quality, just needing to relax a little more today which would have enchanced his overall picture and possibly taken him further. YD (5) 1, Hunt's Carpaccio Trouble In Store, 15 month B/T in stunning condition. Beautiful head and expression, long elegant neck leading into good shoulders, long body that is in proportion with his height to length ratio's, good ribbing, tail well set, well muscled quarters, sound enough coming and going and shows himself so well in profile. Felt he needed to open his gait more which I'm sure he can especially in a larger ring. Lovely type. 2 Seago and Gibbard's Amlida Aston, another typical B/T youngster, loved his head and expression, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, correct layback and tight elbows, not the legs and feet of 1, good body with well developed ribbing, good firm backline, shade longer in loins than 1, good firm quarters with correct tail set and carriage. Very sound coming and going keeping a lovely outline in profile. In super condition and ran the winner very close. 3, Gatheral-Graham's Phealand Secret Detective. PGD (3) 1, Carpaccio Trouble In Store, 2, Crosbie and Holroyd's Bonavoir Red Hector, 2 year old S/red, loved his head and expression, dark oval shaped eyes, elegant neck carriage, well laid shoulders, plenty of fore chest with keel that extends well back. Elbows could fit neater, good body and ribbing, short loins that lead into very good quarters, so firm neat and parallel, a shade untidy coming towards me today but so precise going away, moved out well in profile keeping a good outline. 3, Stringfellow's Sontag Silvan Sorcerer. LD (3,1) 1, Tite's Phealand Special Driver At Rijobeau, Fit, active and so well made. 20 month red full of quality, loved his head and expression, long well arched neck that leads into good shoulders with correct llayback, tight elbows on good legs and feet. Enough fore chest with plenty of width throughout. Very good ribbing that extends well back with cast iron topline, good thich loins that lead into firm well made quarters. Ultra sound coming and going, covers so much ground in profile with correct reach in front and tremendous drive from behind. Beautiful boy that will gain his title without doubt. 2 Gatheral-Graham's Phealand Seal The Deal, another beautiful type, 3 year  old B/t and possibly more mature though out especially in body, lovely head and typical expression, stunning shoulders and front construction, not the feet of 1, excels in body and ribbing, lovely proportions, short thick loins leading into well made hammy quarters, sound enough coming and going, moving out well in profile, just not matching the freedom and drive in profile action of 1. His overall make and shape greatly appealed. OD (7,1) Lovely quality class, 1, CC and BOB, Armstrong's Ch Lauralee Nicholas Nickleby, Simply stunning 2 year old B/T on top form. His coat was gleaming and muscular condition faultless. Everything fits correctly and your hands flow going over him on the table where everything fits so correctly. Masculine head without being course in any way, long elegant and muscular neck which he uses so well on the move to project himself, beautiful shoulders, lovely layback with tight elbows, very good bone and tightly bunched feet. Plenty of fore chest that fits so well with correct width throughout, keel extends well back, well developed ribbing that is deep and well sprung, correct top and underlines, short thick loins, lovely quarters with correct length of second thigh, beautifully angled with solid parallel hocks. No exaggeration here at all, he just fills your eye with quality. Ultra sound coming and going with correct reach and follow through from behind. A great showman that left no doubt in my mind that he was the closest exhibit here today to match my interpretation of our breed standard. Congratulations. 2 and RDCC, Chauhan and Cerasini's GCh Brownwood's Best Gift V Diagram, his delightful temperament and outgoing character is a joy to see, another B/T boy that greatly appealed, so beautifully made throughout and another in fit muscular condition and gleaming coat. Lovely head and dark almond shaped eye, good strong jaws with correct underjaw and perfect mouth. Well arched neck leading into well angulated shoulders, very good bone and feet, ample for chest and length of keel, good ribbing and body proportions, correct top and underlines, short loins, tail correctly set and carried, beautifully made behind with neat parallel hocks, so sound coming and going and another that covers the ground in great style in profile. Gives a really pleasing overall picture, for me Nicholas had a touch more ground clearance but it was a close thing between these two top quality hounds and given the chance I'm sure he will go onto much bigger things, lovely. 3 Seago and Gibbard's Ch Amlida Dreamtiker. MPB (3,2) 1, Armstrong's Clentry Material Girl, lovely 8 month red baby full of promise, lovely type and so well made through out , delightful temperament and personality, lovely head and expression, enough neck leading into well developed shoulders and front construction, good body proportions, correct height to length ratio's, good top line, short loins, well made quarters, so sound already coming and going, showing herself well in profile. Neat, compact and full of promise. 2 Kerry's Kireton Daisy Belle, beautifully made B/T full of breed type, classical in outline and overall shape. Stunning head and expression, well arched neck leading into well placed shoulders, lovely tight elbows, well developed body for age, short loins leading into well made quarters. Very sound for one so young coming and going and keeps a lovely outline in profile. At the moment she is so naughty but once she gets over her silliness she could go places. PB (2) 1, Seago and Gibbard's Amlida Asintended, Ultra feminine 9 month B/T, lovely size and balance, sweetest of heads with perfect ratio's from muzzle to skull, dark almond shaped eyes complete the picture, long elegant neck leading into well developed shoulders, good body with correct length, firm adequately angulated quarters, very sound coming and going for one so young, keeping her outline in profile with a lovely head carriage, promsing. 2 Morgan-Aitken's Demorcaw Secret Liaison, 10 month B/T in a slightly larger mould which I liked, very good head and expression, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, tight elbows on very good legs and feet, grand body with ribbing that extends well back, well angulated quarters, firm solid hocks, no sign of weakness, ultra sound coming and going, looking good in profile. Another naughty but very nice girl that when she gets her act together will certainly do a lot of winning. Ultra sound mover, so precise coming and going, very elegant in profile clearly showing correct reach and follow through being moved at a sensible pace. Really loved her and hope she continues to do well as she deserves too. 2, Alton's Kiersha Futures Dream, another very good bitch, 19 month B/T built on classical lines, very good head and eye, enough neck leading into good shoulders, tight elbows on good legs and feet, well covered and developed body with short thick loins, firm well made quarters, very sound coming towards me though not as precise as 1 today moving away. PGB (2) 1, Tite's Phealand Starlite Dancer At Rijobeau, 22 month red, sister to the RBCC winner and the same beautiful type, another quality well made bitch built on flowing lines, very elegant in stance and on the move, lovely head and expression, long well arched neck leads into correctly angled shoulders, plenty of front and width, long body in proportion with correct top and underlines, short thick loins, tail correctly set and carried, firm neat hocks with decent angulation. Certainly a fit active young lady. 2 Morgan Aitken's Morailsa Secret Romance For Demorgan, 3 year old  B/T, super size and type, very good head and expression, well arched neck leading into good shoulders though not quite the layback as 1, tight elbows on good legs and feet, good body and ribbing leading into short loins, well made quarters on firm neat hocks, very sound in front action though a shade untidy going away today. Another very good bitch that projects herself well in profile. Great coat and condition
LB (5) 1 Norton's Matzell Minella, 2 year old red out of the veteran winner and the same lovely type, shape and construction, really lovely head and expression with deep dark almond shaped eyes, well arched neck that she uses so well all the time, very good shoulders, tight elbows on good legs and feet. Lovely when examined in front, plenty of fore chest that all fits neatly and correctly, keel extends well back leading into good underline, Ribbing is deep and extends well back into short firm loins, tail well set and carried on the move. So very sound coming and going producing an elegant picture in profile. Close up to bigger things and on this performance and condition it certainly won't be long. 2 Armstrong's Lauralee Lush Lashes, 4 yr red, a little larger through out than 1 but balanced and in proportion, very feminine head and outlook with deep dark points, long well arched neck leading into good shoulders with correct layback, plenty of front that fits neatly, very good ribbing that extends well back, correct firm backline, short thick loins, enough angulation behind on strong firm hocks.Tail set a shade higher set than 1. OB (6), Lovely class to finish with. 1 and CC, Williams and Moes' Hampdach Merinda, really beautiful 5 yr S/red shown in fabulous condition. Gives the overall picture of elegance. Very good head and expression, long well arched neck lead into excellent shoulders, infact the angles fore and aft on this bitch are so accurate, tight elbows on good legs and feet. Plenty of fore chest that fits correctly. Ribbing is correctly sprung and extends well back, short thick loins lead into fabulous quarters, neat, well angulated and solid, no sign of weakness. Ultra sound coming and going. In profile clearly demonstrates correct reach and follow through keeping a natural attractive outline. No matter when you looked at this bitch she never stood or looked wrong because she can't. Well handled to her 2nd CC and I was thrilled to see her gain her title the following day at Birmingham. A most worthy Champion. 2 Bennett's Shardaroba's Dream Baby, another very elegant young lady built on clean flowing lines. Stunning head and feminine expression, long well arched neck leading into good shoulders and layback, plenty of fore chest, deep and oval that sits well on good legs and feet, very good body all in proportion, correct top and underlines, well made quarters with firm parallel hocks. Tail correctly set and carried. Ultra sound coming and going and looks the part in profile using her neck carriage so well. Just my personal preference on the touch extra length in body on 1 but I see no reason why this young lady shouldn't carry her crown. In great coat and hard condition. 3 McNaughton's Ch Cedavoch Sorin.
