Northern Counties Dachshund Association Championship Show 2017
Firstly I would like to thank the N.D.A. for inviting me to judge at their first back to back Ch show with Darlington, I appreciate what hard work it is for the officials and committee and it was a splendid effort put in by all. I was rather disappointed in the breed on the whole, the biggest problem was that it was totally impossible to judge to type, many lack bone and feet on the whole are not good.
Veteran Dog 1.Joy’s MORAILSA DRUIDS SECRET 9 years of lovely type and in excellent condition, can still move out keeping a good topline.
Junior Dog (2) 1. Higgins MEGANHOLM BLACK MUSKETEER OF LEVELISS B&T Extremely smart young man, lovely to go over good strong feet , sufficient bone, good forechest that fits tightly into his crook, good shoulder placement and ribbing, strong elegant neck and head piece, sound topline, well balanced hindquarters, keeps a lovely outline on the move, should do great thing when fully matures 2. Goffin-Thorogood’s MATZELL MALIZANI Red beautiful conical head, good reach of neck , sound in topline, not so finished in front as the winner, moves soundly.
Post Grad Dog (1) 1. Skipper’s LAURALEE ARTFUL DODGER B& T Nice head, tidy front assembly , correct shoulder and topline, looks a picture on the stack but disappoints in back action.
Limit Dog (2) 1. Armstrong’s LAURALEE DODGING BULLETS red strong masculine male, superb bone but feet a little flat, lovely clean outline, correct head, sufficient neck excellent front and shoulder placement, good ribbing and topline, moves true coming and going and keeps a good clean outline on the move 2. Borrelli’s CARPACCIO TROUBLE IN STORE b&t Shown in beautiful condition, pleasing head, front and shoulder sound, sufficient bone but again feet not good, he was taller on the leg than the winner and consequently covered the ground with ease, moves close behind hence this placing.
Open Dog (10) (1abs) A lovely class indeed my winner stood out and because of the variation in type found it hard to find my other placings as there is no consistency in type at all 1. Armstrongs CH LAURLEE NICHOLAS NICKLEBY have judged him before – male of outstanding quality and he moves aswell as he is made, shown in excellent condition with superb muscle tone CC & BOB 2. McNaughton’s CARPER A G VON NORDOR (imp) red again very well constructed , pleasing masculine head, good reach of neck, sound front and shoulder , good ribbing, strong topline and excels in rear drive, did not have the confidence and showmanship of the winner. 3. CWMDARHIAN SAN ANDREAS
Veteran Bitch (3) These three old ladies were a pleasure to judge all being is superb condition 1. Norton’s CH MATZELL MILDRED red still has what it takes, beautifully put together and moves out well. Rcc 2. Higgins CH LEVELISS WHAT SHE SAID a lovely bitch that is every inch a Champion of lovely breed type moves out well keeping a lovely outline, just preferred the rear angulation of the winner 3.RIJOBEAU TANTRUMS N TIARAS
Puppy Bitch (4) (2abs) McNorton’s CEDAVOCH TEMPEST a beautiful quality red, lovely head, good reach of neck superb in front and shoulder, sufficient bone , good ribbing and topline, excels in rear angulation and really drives out well showing a clean pair of pads at the rear BP 2. Heels RIJOBEAU RAVISHING RITA another nice puppy of good type, well on for her age and has a clean smart outline, not the rear action of the winner
Junior Bitch (3) (1 w/d) 1. Norton’s MATZELL MYRTLE sound bitch a lot to like about her, has the quality substance and type that is consistent from this kennel moves well covering the ground with ease. 2. Clark’s TIESAL DEBUTANTE b&t promising, has all the essentials, pleasing to go over, but not as mature as the winner, moves well
Post Graduate Bitch 940 (1abs) 1. Seago & Gibbard’s AMILIDA ASINTENDED b&t knew she was my winner the moment she came into the ring, so elegant and has a superb outline, lovely to go over nothing I would like to change but I do feel she lacks bone, moved with ease 2. McNaughton’s CEDAVOCH RAINSTORM Another pleasing bitch to go over, good head neck & ribbing, lovely forechest , would prefer more length of upper arm and a little more positive in hind movement a bit sloppy in hind action at the moment 3.CLENTRY MATERIAL GIRL
Limit Bitch (4) (2abs) 1. LAURALEE GIRL CRUSH 2. LAURALEE MISS MARPLE AT CARPACCIO two really nice bitches , see they are litter sisters , both full of quality and of lovely breed type – it was a hard decision the one is better in front than the other, at the rear again the same one is stronger in angulation then the other , my placing was just a matter of personal taste, sure they will change places many times.
Open Bitch (3) 1. Williams & Moes CH CWMDARHIAN HOTOFF THE PRESS red beautifully put together, excellent front and shoulder assembly, good ribbing, sound topline, sufficient bone and good feet, and lovely strong hind quarters which she uses to best advantage BCC & RBOB just preferred the dogs head on my decision for BOB 2. Norton’s CH MATZELL MINELLA another quality bitch , extremely sound to go over and moves out well, the winner was better in length of sternum and ribbing. 3. LAURALEE ALEXANDROVA
